Help Me. I'm Poor.

Did you guess what our movie is just by our blog title??
Please say you did!!!
If not, here's a picture clue. :)

{via pinterest}

Oh, yes.
We picked Bridesmaids.
Why?
Simply because it's awesome, and everyone should see it with their girlfriends.
Here's why...

{via pinterest}

{via we heart it}

{via tumblr}

{via pinterest}

Basically, it's got a lot of quotable moments, which gives you even more of a reason to see it. You will be quoting this movie to yourself...to your friends...to strangers. You may also be singing Wilson Phillips and doing a strange dance here and there.

(This movie was one of Rebel Wilson's big breaks)

This movie is just plain brilliant. It's all about the relationships of women when getting ready for a wedding (and in general), and there's a lot of truth to it. Women bring drama, we all know this...but in the end, all bridal parties should be close like this!

Cassie's was!

Oh, and there's a love story in the movie too!

We have to give a forewarning though that this movie is a tad crude -- if you don't like some crude humor, it may not be for you. Imagine a female version of The Hangover -- with less nudity.

Hump Day Hugs #5

It's just me today, ladies and gents! Mary is busy, busy, busy. :)
So, you just get my two cents on the topic.

Many people will try to judge your spending and life style habits, don't let it get to you. It's your life, your money and no one else's business.

 {via i dig your sole man}

Money is a necessary evil, but you deserve to own pretty things because you've worked hard for your money! You should get to use it how you want. I am certainly not condoning spending a whole paycheck in one night out and going broke, but but it's okay to buy a nice pair of shoes every once in a while. Or, that cupcake looks pretty delicious too! The point being...don't be stingy with your earnings.

After all, as I always tell my husband....

Say What You Need to Say

{via Pinterest}

I struggle on a daily basis with trying to be a better person, a less selfish person.
I would love to lead a life that leads others to being better as well--to be an example.
It is something I start over every day, choosing to lead my life in a way that I should.
I love C.S. Lewis. He writes the most spiritually inspirational words.
 There were so many good ones to choose from.
So I hope everyone else tries to shine today! :)

I never realized how much happiness could change you until I left my previous job.
I certainly had my happy moments while I worked there because I loved working with the kids and creating my classroom world, but it wasn't enough. The stress was too much, and I discovered that I didn't want to live my life with fear and anxiety festering in my body.
I thought about it and discussed it a lot and determined that I needed to put myself before others for once in my life. And, sorry I'm not sorry, it was one of the best decisions I ever made!
I know for a fact that I'm happier, and my body/mind thanks me for that because it's healthier.
So, love yourself, take care of yourself, and find your happiness!
You won't regret it.
I promise.

Chick Flicks - The Decoy Bride

{via davidtennantontwitter.com}

Cassie and I both agreed that this weeks chick flick HAD to be the movie The Decoy Bride.
Not only for the love of David Tennant (for all the Dr. Who fans out there) and Kelly Macdonald (for all you Disney/Harry Potter/Boardwalk Empire fans too), but also for the quick wit and hopeless romantic in all of us. There is something so refreshing about British humor in chick flicks that surpasses American ones.

{via another broken compass}

This story follows Katie, our heroine, who is a writer and has once again found herself out of another horrible relationship. She moves back home to live with her mom on a remote Scottish Island. There are only a handful of available men there, and she is the last unmarried woman on the island.

The island plays host to the wedding of a famous actress to an author. To escape from the paparazzi, Katie is asked to pose as the bride for a "fake" wedding for the pictures. Turns out they actually get married and are running around the island hiding from the paparazzi trying to find the real bride. We won't give away too much more.... (However, the scene with the bagpipes is one of the most heart touching scenes to ever exist.)

All we are saying is: GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!! It's on Netflix, so you have no excuse not to. :)

Please post your thoughts on it or comments after you watch it on our page, we'd love to know if you like our recommendations.

Hump Day Hugs #4

This week's hump day hug:
It's okay to be 22 or even 32 or 42 and not know what you want to be when you grow up.

 {via when i grow up coach}

This is so true! It's okay to not know what you want to be when you grow up. Or, in our case, to be grown up and not know what you want to be. There are just so many opportunities in the world today, and more and more are popping up all the time. Cassie thought she wanted to be a teacher, but after a couple of years in the field, she's taking a break. Mary has two degrees in varying fields, and still has no clue what she's good at. Life happens. Just go where it leads for God has a plan for you and only He knows it.

We Like Big Books

{via annbrashares.wordpress.com/}

I'm assuming several of our viewers are in the same mid-20s age range as Cassie and I are. Maybe not, and if not, that's awesome. If so, I hope you'll remember Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. You may just remember the movies, but the books are incredible. Anyways, what many people do not know is that the author, Ann Brashares, did a follow up book for the series. This book is called Sisterhood Everlasting. For any of you who ever wondered what happened to the best friends later on, this book ties up all the loose ends. It was incredible. I laughed, and I cried a lot. I highly recommend it. If you haven't read the first 3 books in the series, do that first, but definitely read this book! :)

{via megcabot.com}
This is a three part series by Meg Cabot.
Queen of Babble
Queen of Babble in the Big City
Queen of Babble Gets Hitched

I first discovered Meg Cabot when The Princess Diaries movie came out, and I then of course devoured the books. I soon began to tire of Mia's ramblings though and wanted something more adult and less high school. So, I found her books in the regular fiction section.
She has several stand alone books, but I love a good series. And, this one is all about Lizzie Nichols and how her inability to keep a secret always lands her in hot water.
It's fun. It's flirty. And, it's for you!

Happies & Crappies

The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up

Happies
Cassie was told at her temp job to look for full-time long term employment within the library system because of her stellar performance!
{Yay, Cass!-Mary}

Cassie met a girl at work that she went to a youth retreat with in high school!

Mary applied for 4 new jobs this week!

Mary gets to see her niece and nephews in 6 days!

Mary has a great college friend visiting Sunday!

Mary cooked and baked all day! Very happy with the results: honeycomb brittle, pumpkin butterscotch muffins, salsa, and a breaded chicken with a white wine cream sauce and noodles

Cassie found this awesomely terrible song called Crush that everyone should know about it. She thinks it's comparable to Rebecca Black's "Friday" song.

Crappies
Cassie's photo shoot last weekend was postponed since the field was wet and muddy.

Mary & Cassie haven't read any books in almost two weeks! :(

Mary doesn't like that it's been raining the past two days straight! Where's her summer sunshine!

Mary's skin is burning from making salsa with jalapeƱos!-prepare with caution!

Chick Flicks - When Harry Met Sally!

{via cooking with the movies}

When Harry Met Sally is one of the greatest chick flicks created. It is filled with love and laughter and real life. It has a lot of quotable moments too! And, it poses a valid question - can men and women ever just be friends?

{via cine lessons}

I'm sure you're "just friends" with lots of guys {or girls, if we have any guys reading this!}, but there was probably a time when you wanted to know what it would be like to plant a smooch or two on them! Don't lie. You know it's true!! :) But, I definitely think you can be friends with the opposite sex without the sex part getting in the way. -Cassie

I think that it's all circumstantial. If you're with the right person and you have guy friends, I don't think it will even be an issue. -Mary

{via pinterest}
{This is totally how I order food -Mary}

And, let's talk for a minute about how romantic Billy Crystal is in this movie. He's got some great lines! The favorite is probably his confession of love at the end to Meg Ryan. {spoiler alert :: although we really hope you've seen this movie by now!!}

{via pinterest}

{via pinterest}

I mean, seriously? What guy says that? Or even notices that?

But, we're pretty confident that every woman wants a man to tell her this or something similar. It proves that our guy pays attention to us and our little quirks that make us unique and lovable!

So, go grab some popcorn, a drink {maybe of the adult variety}, your loved one, and plop down on the couch for a great feel good chick flick this weekend!

Hump Day Hugs #3

This week's Hump Day Hug is:
Don't waste time crying over little boys who talk too much. Some day you will find the one and then all that happened in between will just seem inconsequential. Some will be hot and unforgettable, but they are definitely not worth the time, the tears, or the mascara!

Before we share our two cents today, for whatever it's worth, here are some "visual aids" that demonstrate what our hump day hug is all about!

{via pinterest}

{via pinterest}

{via pinterest}

 {via pinterest}

Basically, if you haven't gotten the gist of it yet, follow your mother's advice and don't cry over the spilled milk. So, he wasn't Mr. Right. Who cares? Take comfort in the fact that you've learned and grown from the experiences you have. You are a better woman now; far better than Mr. Right Now quite obviously deserves!

And, ladies, let's be honest with ourselves for a second - we have this fantasy of getting the perfect guy too. The one who will do no wrong and be stupendously perfect. He might be a Mr. Darcy. Or a Mr. Grey. Or, he could even be a Dr. Who. But, the cold, hard reality is, those men are fictional, and our job is to find the man who "completes us" and makes us feel as special as our dream man would.

There is no better man than the one who cares for you, supports you, and loves you. Once you've found him, you'll realize that Mr. Darcy, Mr. Grey, and Dr. Who don't hold a candle to him because he's perfect...perfect for only you! {No tears required.}

We {heart} books!

{via theyoungfolks.com}

This book series is simply a delightful read. They make for an easy, happy, and fun sequence of stories!
It follows the adult lives of childhood best friends. After the tragic death of one of the friends parents, the 4 girls put their best skills to use in a wedding business company. They use the deceased parents estate to make bride's dreams come true, and their own. Each book follows a different life of one of the women and their journey to finding their own happily ever after. I loved reading this series.
{Be sure to remember some of the little details--they may not seem important at the time, but they connect throughout the series.}

{via goodreads}

Don't we all feel this way sometimes? I know I do!
This book, and all Kim Gruenenfelder's others, are great and show real life, not something that is sugar coated with happiness. :)
If you like Hollywood gossip and celebrities, then you'll like this book! Charlie is a perfect heroine for the time because she's real and lays it all out there for everyone to see and know. And, of course, there's a hunky male Hollywood heartthrob thrown into the mix!

Also...please see if you can find one of these near you!
{via bing}

They are called "Little Free Libraries" and are popping up all over the country.
Basically, you take books based on the honor system and return them when you are finished.
And, if you want to leave books for others to use, you can do that too!
If you have some time, Google it. It's a great concept!!
