This Book Club Reads Wine Labels Too

{via sodahead.com}

I'm running out of ideas for books to review on here! I need to read some new ones!!! However, I do remember how much more wonderful I thought the book The Lovely Bones was over the movie. I am an advocate for reading a book before you see the movie. While this always proves to make me dislike the movie in comparison to the book, nothing can do justice to the details and plot lines a book holds that a movie usually cuts short.

While this plot line reads horrible and sad, there really is some beauty and innocence in the story. Fourteen year old Susie Salmon is brutally raped and murdered by a serial killer in her neighborhood. The story follows Susie watching over her grieving family and following the police efforts to catch her killer. Susie reflects over all the things on earth she'll miss out on, and it covers how she moves on to accept the next part of her story. This is a sad but very wonderful story.

I'm all about reading a good series. In fact, I prefer to read them over stand alone books. I can't stand to lose my characters. I fall in love with them and their stories & then I just want to read more and more about them!

{via fun substance}

So, for this week, I'm picking a trilogy that is heart wrenching but full of love and hope.
It's written by Lauren Oliver and called the Delirium series.

 {via the examiner}

This series is set in a dystopian world where love is a disease. Can you imagine living in a world where love is considered evil and you have a procedure on your 18th birthday as a cure for it? It's an interesting world that will make you feel more than you ever thought you could from reading a simple book. If you don't believe me, watch this video.

Now, go read the books and thank me later. Also, a good theme song for these books is "Both of Us" by B.O.B. featuring Taylor Swift. Grab some tissues though because it'll make you cry at the end of book one if you're listening to it!

Case of the Mondays

{via Pinterest}

This quote is in honor of my one year anniversary last week with my man. He put this quote on the flowers he sent me the first week we were together. :) It's so true and wonderful.

Oh my gosh, you guys! I want to cry. How sweet is that???????
{Don't mind me. I'm just a sappy mess right now.}

Okay...my words to live by for this week...
{via steffy who else @ blogger}

Since Mary & I started our healthy life plan, I have gained and lost the same 4 pounds over...and over...and over...and over again. It's been very, very frustrating - to say the least. So, this is has become my daily mantra the past few weeks. Mary knows when I get frustrated to just remind me of this, which I am ever so grateful for, and it helps to get me through the tough days!
So, if you're ever having "one of those days," just remember that you'll get a second chance tomorrow!

Chick Flicks - Never Been Kissed

Never Been Kissed
{via Pinterest}

This movie is classic Drew Barrymore, maybe not as classic as E.T., but as far as chick flicks go, it's pretty awesome. Drew Barrymore is Josie Gellar, a reporter for the newspaper looking for her big break. She gets assigned to go undercover as a high school student, the only problem is she couldn't pull off being cool back when she was actually in high school. A little help from her brother, David Arquette, and she makes her way into the cool crowd, but is that where she wants to be?

{via Pinterest}

{via Pinterest}

Oh, yea....one more key piece of information- Josie is 25 and has never been kissed!

P.S. There's a gorgeous love interest, Michael Vartan, quite worth the eye candy.

Also, this movie has some good featured characters: Molly Shannon, John C. Reilly.

This chick flick is one worth checking out!

10 things I hate about you...

If you saw last week's post, you may think we're doing a recurring theme with movies and an underlying Shakespearean plot turned modern. In realty, we just happened to both agree on these two awesome movies!

{via buzzfeed}

This movie stars Joseph Gordon Levitt (sigh), Julia Stiles, Larisa Oleynik (Alex Mac), and Heath Ledger (May your pretty Australian self rest in peace).

 {via pinterest}

The two girls are sisters, Bianca and Kat, and have an overbearing father that won't allow the younger sister, Bianca (Larisa) to date until Kat (Julia) does.

 {via pinterest}

Patrick (Heath) is paid by a popular jerk at school to take Kat out so he can win a bet with his friends that he can score with Bianca.

{via imdb}

Cameron (Joseph) is the nice guy admiring Bianca, waiting for his chance to step in.

 {via f*** yeah movie club on tumblr}

There's love, laughter, heartache, and "spoiler alert," Heather Ledger serenades you with his beautiful voice!

 {via buzzsugar}

This is one movie you won't want to miss!! Check out the stimulating dialogue while you're at it. ;)

Oh, the 90s were great!

Hump Day Hugs #6

If you like being single, it's okay to admit that. Maybe you like being alone. Maybe you like just dating and hooking up. Guys like these things, and the world has no problem with it.

 {via polyvore}

Okay. I've got to be honest for second, and I think Mary will back me up. I am not a fan of today's topic and that's mainly because I can't offer much advice or insight into it. I've been married for the majority of my twenties, and Mary's been in serious relationships for hers. So, basically, we're really not the people to ask about being single and liking it. We were both born to be Susie Homemakers; not to be single.

 {via pinterest}

As much as I agree with Cassie (we really are meant to be domestic divas), I have to admit that at the time in my early 20s when I was single I had some of the best times of my life. I found out so much about myself and what makes me happy. I would go on impromptu road trips and go out dancing on weekdays. While I have met the right person now and have no desire to be single again, I wouldn't trade those single years for anything. They were so much fun and made for some great memories. If you're single and waiting for the right one to come along, EMBRACE IT!

However, we can both attest to liking our "me time" - where we focus on us and just step away from everything for a little while, like taking bubble baths and getting pedicures.

{via lol so true}

But, we will say this - try to be positive in your single-hood. I know too many times we focused on the negatives of why we were still waiting on the sidelines, but please look on the bright side!
And, if you ever need some motivation to do that, you can always check out Pinterest. They've got some good ones, and we've picked a couple!

{via pinterest}

{via bit of byrd}

And then, you can check out this awesomeness about being single as told by Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Rebel Wilson.

{via buzzfeed}

If you're single and waiting for the right one to come along, EMBRACE IT! Go for late night dancing on a Tuesday! Go on blind dates! Have fun!

Chick Flicks - The Decoy Bride

{via davidtennantontwitter.com}

Cassie and I both agreed that this weeks chick flick HAD to be the movie The Decoy Bride.
Not only for the love of David Tennant (for all the Dr. Who fans out there) and Kelly Macdonald (for all you Disney/Harry Potter/Boardwalk Empire fans too), but also for the quick wit and hopeless romantic in all of us. There is something so refreshing about British humor in chick flicks that surpasses American ones.

{via another broken compass}

This story follows Katie, our heroine, who is a writer and has once again found herself out of another horrible relationship. She moves back home to live with her mom on a remote Scottish Island. There are only a handful of available men there, and she is the last unmarried woman on the island.

The island plays host to the wedding of a famous actress to an author. To escape from the paparazzi, Katie is asked to pose as the bride for a "fake" wedding for the pictures. Turns out they actually get married and are running around the island hiding from the paparazzi trying to find the real bride. We won't give away too much more.... (However, the scene with the bagpipes is one of the most heart touching scenes to ever exist.)

{via pinterest}

All we are saying is: GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!! It's on Netflix, so you have no excuse not to. :)

Please post your thoughts on it or comments after you watch it on our page, we'd love to know if you like our recommendations.

Hump Day Hugs #3

This week's Hump Day Hug is:
Don't waste time crying over little boys who talk too much. Some day you will find the one and then all that happened in between will just seem inconsequential. Some will be hot and unforgettable, but they are definitely not worth the time, the tears, or the mascara!

Before we share our two cents today, for whatever it's worth, here are some "visual aids" that demonstrate what our hump day hug is all about!

{via pinterest}

{via pinterest}

{via pinterest}

 {via pinterest}

Basically, if you haven't gotten the gist of it yet, follow your mother's advice and don't cry over the spilled milk. So, he wasn't Mr. Right. Who cares? Take comfort in the fact that you've learned and grown from the experiences you have. You are a better woman now; far better than Mr. Right Now quite obviously deserves!

And, ladies, let's be honest with ourselves for a second - we have this fantasy of getting the perfect guy too. The one who will do no wrong and be stupendously perfect. He might be a Mr. Darcy. Or a Mr. Grey. Or, he could even be a Dr. Who. But, the cold, hard reality is, those men are fictional, and our job is to find the man who "completes us" and makes us feel as special as our dream man would.

There is no better man than the one who cares for you, supports you, and loves you. Once you've found him, you'll realize that Mr. Darcy, Mr. Grey, and Dr. Who don't hold a candle to him because he's perfect...perfect for only you! {No tears required.}
