Happies
It's Friday!
{via sphotos-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net}

This happened two weekends ago! :)

Cassie has all weekend off to read and clean and do crafts!

Mary applied for a few jobs and signed up for volunteering.

We are on day 26 of our new healthy lifestyle.
Not that anyone's counting though...

Crappies
It has rained for Mary for the past 3 days

It has also been chilly; Mary hates the cold!

Cassie has had an emotional and long week at work. She is glad it's the weekend!

Hump Day Hug #8

Okay...honest moment for today...these hump day hugs are getting a bit...tiresome?
We're not really sure what to call it.

We had this great idea to use a list of 20 Things a Woman Should Live By, but it's too "You're Better Than Everyone Else." Do you know what we mean?
 The list isn't positive enough...if that's possible.

We still want to do hump day hugs and tell you all how awesome you are {because you totally are} so we're going to come up with our own each week instead of using a list.
But, since Cassie is working 4 ten hour shifts this week, she hasn't been available for much planning.

So, to make this all easier, we're just going to post the whole list of 20 Things a Woman Should Live By for your reading pleasure!

Happy Hump Day, Ladies!!!

More Than Words

First things first...

{via whimsey and wanderlust on etsy}

I hope your morning felt like fall because ours sure did!

{via Pinterest}

This healthy lifestyle is definitely something you have to wake up every day and choose to follow. Having to make the right choices when out to eat or out on the town is tough. It helps that I have Cassie sending me reminder posts of why we're doing this and to make good choices. This is why I chose this quote this week. We've only just begun, but we're going to keep it up!

{via pinterest}

This is my quote for the week in reflection of what I accomplished last week through healthy eating and daily exercise. I have to remember {read as: remind myself multiple times a day} that if I have a goal, I need to do something about it. The goal is not going to achieve itself sitting all nice and pretty on the shelf.
So, Mary and I have made it thought week one of our new and improved lives. The honeymoon phase of working out and making good choices is over. Now, it's time to get down to business and stay committed!

Hump Day Hugs #6

If you like being single, it's okay to admit that. Maybe you like being alone. Maybe you like just dating and hooking up. Guys like these things, and the world has no problem with it.

 {via polyvore}

Okay. I've got to be honest for second, and I think Mary will back me up. I am not a fan of today's topic and that's mainly because I can't offer much advice or insight into it. I've been married for the majority of my twenties, and Mary's been in serious relationships for hers. So, basically, we're really not the people to ask about being single and liking it. We were both born to be Susie Homemakers; not to be single.

 {via pinterest}

As much as I agree with Cassie (we really are meant to be domestic divas), I have to admit that at the time in my early 20s when I was single I had some of the best times of my life. I found out so much about myself and what makes me happy. I would go on impromptu road trips and go out dancing on weekdays. While I have met the right person now and have no desire to be single again, I wouldn't trade those single years for anything. They were so much fun and made for some great memories. If you're single and waiting for the right one to come along, EMBRACE IT!

However, we can both attest to liking our "me time" - where we focus on us and just step away from everything for a little while, like taking bubble baths and getting pedicures.

{via lol so true}

But, we will say this - try to be positive in your single-hood. I know too many times we focused on the negatives of why we were still waiting on the sidelines, but please look on the bright side!
And, if you ever need some motivation to do that, you can always check out Pinterest. They've got some good ones, and we've picked a couple!

And then, you can check out this awesomeness about being single as told by Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Rebel Wilson.

If you're single and waiting for the right one to come along, EMBRACE IT! Go for late night dancing on a Tuesday! Go on blind dates! Have fun!

We Like Big Books

{via annbrashares.wordpress.com/}

I'm assuming several of our viewers are in the same mid-20s age range as Cassie and I are. Maybe not, and if not, that's awesome. If so, I hope you'll remember Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. You may just remember the movies, but the books are incredible. Anyways, what many people do not know is that the author, Ann Brashares, did a follow up book for the series. This book is called Sisterhood Everlasting. For any of you who ever wondered what happened to the best friends later on, this book ties up all the loose ends. It was incredible. I laughed, and I cried a lot. I highly recommend it. If you haven't read the first 3 books in the series, do that first, but definitely read this book! :)

{via megcabot.com}
This is a three part series by Meg Cabot.
Queen of Babble
Queen of Babble in the Big City
Queen of Babble Gets Hitched

I first discovered Meg Cabot when The Princess Diaries movie came out, and I then of course devoured the books. I soon began to tire of Mia's ramblings though and wanted something more adult and less high school. So, I found her books in the regular fiction section.
She has several stand alone books, but I love a good series. And, this one is all about Lizzie Nichols and how her inability to keep a secret always lands her in hot water.
It's fun. It's flirty. And, it's for you!

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

1. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Mary: I wanted to be a mom. That was the main thing. I also remember wanting to be a professional singer...that didn't pan out.

Cassie: What didn't I want to be? A singer, a ballerina, a gymnast, a veterinarian, a Disney Princess...

2. What was your favorite way to kill time as a kid?
Mary: I was doing anything I could to fit in with my brothers....playing soccer, climbing trees, watching Rocky.

Cassie: I played dress up and Barbies. I watched Disney Princess movies. I did pretty much any girly thing you can think of!

3. When did you get your first cell phone?
Mary: I was 15, also a sophomore in high school.

Cassie: I was a sophomore in high school & only had 8 minutes a day that I could use.

4. What is your favorite magazine to read?
Mary: I love Cosmo. It's a guilty pleasure.
{via neonlimelight.com}

Cassie: Real Simple & Self, if I read any at all
 {via daily stab}

5. What is the one random object people would be surprised to find in your purse?
Mary: I carry a rosary and a prayer book with the prayer cards from my grandma and uncle's funerals.

Cassie: an iPhone, an iPad, a Kindle, and a book so that I can always read!

Chick Flick Thursdays & 27 Dresses

{Via Pinterest}

There is an abundance of amazing chick flicks to write about, but this week we settled on 27 Dresses. An amazing flick for a hopeless romantic who has always dreamed of a real life true love romance and perfect wedding. {That would be us!}

{Via Pinterest}

This movie not only does romance well, but it ties in humor and realistic embarrassing scenarios.
Although, Mary must admit, the number of times she belted out Benny and the Jets quadrupled after seeing this movie! It soon became a frequent request to the DJ, and she never really learned the right words...stuck with "walrus sounds".

{via someecards}

One of the best lines from a movie - life's little disappointments summed up entirely here!

{via pinterest}

Let's not forget the beautiful - I've got something in my eye - ending.

This is a perfect movie for a girls' night so gather your girlfriends, get some wine or champagne, and toast to a night of weddings, embarrassing moments, and romantic interludes!

Words To Live By

We have decided that words are power, and we want to share our favorite quotes with you!!
Maybe you have some of the favorites too. :)

{via pinterest}

I complain a lot about not being able to find a job, but I know nothing will change or happen if I don't make it happen. I'm lucky enough to have support from a lot of people, and I need to put things into action.

{via enchanting quotes}

This is super true for me. My house is always a disaster zone because there's always something creative I want to be doing. Since I'm not working a full-time job right now though, I have more time to clean. Right now, my house is clean, but I love the fact that this validates my messiness just a little! ;)

Chick Flicks & Our Girl Bridget

Each Thursday, we're going to highlight a chick flick that we not only find relevant to every day life, but also one that just makes us feel good.

The beauty to a movie is escaping reality, but sometimes it's just nice to look at a beautiful heroine and think...That's how I feel or...That's exactly what I'm going through.

One of our favorite movies to reflect back on at a past time in our lives is Bridget Jones's Diary. I don't know how any woman can dislike this movie. It has humor and makes the main character not only relatable, but she gets the happy ever after!

This scene in particular reminds us of our single college days {and the reenactments we did}. ;) Why does no one want us? Why can't we find love? Well, we weren't alone...Bridget was right there with us!

So, please, if you haven't seen this movie...go watch it! Now! Along with the sequel! Both are wonderful and read the books while you're at it!

You can thank us later!

8 Years Ago...

8 years ago Cassie and I met at Belmont Abbey College.
I can't recall the first specific time we spoke, and neither can Cassie...horrible memories, we have.
I do remember that she was in my First Year Symposium class, one which was a class of 15 women (mostly pre-elementary educators).

Cassie was involved in the theater department (such a lovely actress) and I volunteered to help as stage crew for the first Fall play. We lived in the same building a few halls down from each other. It was a small school and we were destined to meet. At some point we did-wish I remember when. Haha... We started hanging with the same friends as well.

We started a Facebook group call the SusieHomemakers, because we were convinced that there was no other fate for us than to be quickly wifed up and start popping out babies! Life has a funny way of not turning out quite as planned...although at least Cassie got the wifed up part down. :)

Throughout our four years at college, Cassie and I were suite mates, and one summer roommates. I was honored to be one of her bridesmaids on her wedding day. She was a beautiful bride.

So now today we find ourselves in the same life situation, stuck and unpleased with the career world (or lack thereof). I'm glad we both agreed to do this blog together. It has brought us closer from far away, and it has brought both of us some hope.
